An avalanche cause by a devastating 7.8 earthquake in Nepal hit a basecamp on Mount Everest and left many injured, missing, and dead.

One man, Bhim Bahadur Khatri, talked with the Associated Press about his experience and said “I managed to dig out of what could easily have been my grave. I wiggled and used my hands as claws to dig as much as I could. I was suffocating, I could not breathe. But I knew I had to survive.”
